The Value of Owning Your Life (And Your Mistakes)

Owning your life

Some people may be "okay with the way things are going." But, they aren't truly satisfied with what they're doing.

How do you feel about owning your life?

What do you think when you hear about other people owning their own lives? Owning your own life may sound scary or like it's too much responsibility. However, it's actually the key to ultimate freedom.

Tips To Owning Your Life

Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed with life right now? If the answer to that question is yes, you aren't alone. There are a lot of people that are unhappy with their lives right now. There are even more that don't know what to do to fix it.

Owning your life gives you the freedom to take charge of your own happiness. Even accepting you own mistakes can give you the power to keep your happiness in check.

When you become honest with yourself about what you want and what you want to do, you'll be on track to living your happiest life.

Imagine finally having what you want and being content with yourself in every situation.

The first and last steps to that involve truly taking ownership of your life.

Owning your life doesn't have to be a mystery. It also doesn't mean that you have to do anything difficult. If you're ready to truly own your life, there are only a few things that you have to do. First start off by reading some selected materials from our website. Then, start following these steps in your everyday life.

Make Peace With the Past

Do you have a one that got away? Are you still reeling from a friend, job, or significant other that rejected you? Can you not stop dwelling on that one risk you didn't take, but think that you should have?

All of these things and thoughts are different, but they have one thing in common: they're all in the past.

One of the most important rules of owning your life is to make peace with the past. The past is gone, but the present and future are what you should be focusing on.

If you live in past, how can you expect to live in the now? Make peace with your past mistakes and regrets regardless of what they may be. After you do that, you're ready to own your amazing present.

Don't Play the Blame Game

When it comes to our lives, it's so easy to blame others when things go wrong. You could have gotten that promotion if the manager didn't have it out for you. If your parents had been richer or more caring, you'd be at a much better place in your life.

One of the secrets to truly owning your life is to realize that you're far more responsible for your happiness and current state in life than you'd think.

When you give people power over your situation, you give them power over your entire life. You're the only one in charge of your life, don't give that power to others that don't deserve it.

Think About What Doesn't Work

Why do you feel like you don't have control of your life? If you take time to think about what's making you feel unhappy or unfulfilled, you'll know what you need to change.

Are you overwhelmed at home because you feel like you have to do everything involving the kids and housework? Then it's time to talk to your spouse about dividing responsibilities more evenly or hiring a maid.

Do you hate your job? It's time to go on the job hunt again, or maybe even go back to school so you can have a different career.

Being honest about what's making you unhappy is the first key to owning your life. Once you know what you need to change, you'll be on your own path to life ownership and happiness.

Accept Yourself

So many people will spend their lives thinking about the person they want to be, and not the person they actually are.

There's nothing wrong with striving towards self improvement, but if you're living as your false self there's no way you can own your own life.

If you're serious about owning your own life, you need to accept yourself as you are, and not who you could be. Owning yourself and accepting who you are will make owning your life much easier.

Compete With Yourself

Have you ever heard of the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses"? In the past that would be used to talk about people that felt the need to compete with their neighbors, but plenty of people do this with others throughout their days.

Is there a coworker you think has the perfect career? Does your friend have the perfect relationship? Do you have a sibling that seems to have it all?

It's important to remember that people have a public face they show to people, and a private life we'll never see. You're essentially comparing their sizzle reel to hours of uncut footage.

Don't feel the need to compare your lives to others. Endlessly competing will leave you empty, and will take your focus off of your true path to happiness. Only worry about improving yourself, comparisons to other people aren't helpful.

Check In With Yourself

Now that you've made all of these amazing changes in your life so that you can be happier, how will you make sure that everything you do helps you own your life? The answer is to hold yourself accountable and check in with your self.

After you've spent some time thinking about what you need to be happy and truly own your own life, you need to make sure you're on track to make it happen. Make a list of goals you want to achieve, and include a realistic timetable for making them happen.

Pick a day of the week you'll be able to have some time to really take a look at your personal progress. Think about what you've done over the past 7 days to reach your goals, and what you can do to make them happen over the next 7 days.
